Description
This project required designing and implementing works for a network sewer renewal (including investigation, design and consenting for 14 pipe bridges, 19 pipe replacements and 40 lining sites) that could be commenced with minimal design and no consenting.
Pipe sizes ranged from 100NB to 560OD, with a total of 3742m of sewer pipe rehabilitated. 15 manholes were also rehabilitated, plus a sewer rising main was designed and constructed as emergency works (Lake Road Rising Main).
The client (Watercare) increased the scope to include the emergency repair of the 560OD Lake Road Rising Main (via directional drilling), which was delivered successfully in a short timeframe.
Several pipe bridge sites were located in inaccessible areas, and helicopters were used on several sites by the project team to take the old pipes out and bring the new pipes in. Time was of the essence, and the full scope of transportation was completed within one day.
All works were completed on time, on budget and to an extremely high quality and safety standard.
